Wonderphil Entertainment to represent Australian indie film MR RED BEAN at international markets

NAFA Productions announces that Wonderphil Entertainment will handle international sales for MR RED BEAN, an Australian comedy-drama written and directed by Tony Chu.

Sydney, Australia - In an exciting milestone for Australian independent cinema, the comedy-drama MR RED BEAN has officially locked in Wonderphil Entertainment as its international sales agent (excluding ANZ theatrical release). The agreement covers worldwide distribution rights and will see the film presented to buyers at major international film markets. The partnership aims to secure theatrical, streaming, and home entertainment deals for the cross-cultural project. Melding live-action storytelling with a distinct anime-influenced sensibility, MR RED BEAN is a 91-minute family-friendly movie that bridges cultures by offering a fresh, modern twist on the classic fish-out-of-water physical comedy.

Film Premise and Narrative
The narrative centres on a misunderstood hero, Fung Lee (portrayed by rising star Alan Zhu), who unexpectedly receives a First Aid Manual from an unknown source. Mistaking this book for an innovative university MBA assignment, Fung roams the streets of Sydney, creatively applying the "treatments" on unsuspecting strangers with hilarious results. Closely following his journey of misadventures are three shadowy media figures. Firstly, there’s Jessica (Imogen Trevillion), an intrepid television reporter who gradually develops romantic feelings for Fung. Then there’s Raja (Atharv Kolhatkar), a burnt-out doctor-vlogger who later becomes inspired to perform good deeds. Finally, there’s Alexis (Melissa Jones), a stressed television executive who’s determined to exploit Fung’s creativity for a new reality television show. According to the production team, the narrative balances slapstick humor with heartfelt moments and cross-cultural themes, making it suitable for general audiences worldwide.

Viral Sensation and Audience Appeal
Unaware that his unorthodox methods were being recorded and shared online, Fung becomes a viral sensation whereby his funny antics were being imitated worldwide. The film uses this arc to comment on modern fame, social media, and inspired moments of creativity. According to the production team, the key target audiences are elementary school children, their families and anime fans.
